Location and Facilities

A beautiful location in the Broads

Waveney River Centre - the Broads National Park’s award winning waterside destination in the heart of the Waveney Valley. We’re a small, family-run lodge park with a focus on quality and relaxation. From the tranquility of your lodge you can listen to the birdsong and admire the amazing views across the Norfolk & Suffolk marshes, whilst you unwind on your balcony or soak in your hot tub.

We’re located on the Norfolk side of the River Waveney, looking south across Carlton Marshes nature reserve, towards Oulton Broad and the coast. We’re quite rural (you might even say isolated, in a good way) but only 10 minutes drive from the A143, 15 minutes from Beccles and 30 minutes from Norwich. The lovely seaside town of Southwold is only 40 minutes drive.

Everything you could need is right here on the Park

This includes a newly refurbished pub & restaurant, shop, indoor heated pool, boat hire - or even a mooring for your own boat. The Waveney Inn serves a delicious menu of locally sourced, freshly prepared food in addition to a range of ales from local brewer Adnams; enjoy your meal in our air-conditioned dining area or from our new al-fresco deck, where you can watch the cattle graze and the boats go by.

Get closer to nature on the water

If you’d like to get out on the water, then you can hire one of our day cruisers or perhaps keep your own boat in one of our moorings - just a few moments’ walk from your lodge. From our marina you can reach Oulton Broad in 40 minutes, Beccles in 1.25 hours or venture further afield to the pretty villages of Somerleyton, Reedham or Loddon. The Southern Broads are well known for being quiet and peaceful, and you can tie up for a picnic or some fishing in the middle of nowhere!

Explore great walking routes

Norfolk & Suffolk have some great walks, and a quick trip across our pedestrian ferry takes you to the Angles Way long distance footpath, which passes through Beccles, Carlton Marshes and Oulton Broad on its journey from Thetford to Great Yarmouth. It’s a 50 minute walk into Oulton Broad - with its two mainline railway stations - and a longer 3 hour walk into Beccles, alongside the river.

Get away from the hustle & bustle of ‘real’ life and enjoy your own piece of the Broads at Waveney River Centre.
