Ways to stay active during your break

Enjoying a holiday in your new luxury holiday lodge doesn’t have to be all about relaxing and chilling out within the peaceful surroundings of the Waveney Valley. If you like to stay active then you would probably like a range of activities to take part in that are a little more interesting than the inside of a gym. Well thanks to our location within the multi-award winning Waveney River Centre holiday park, you can take advantage of all of the wonderful activities the park has to offer, which will definitely keep you active, entertained and feeling refreshed, ready for a relaxing evening inside your lodge.

Here you will find a modern indoor swimming pool, which is spacious enough for all and heated throughout the year. It’s the perfect place where you can relax the muscles after a day of exploring, take in a few laps or simply have fun with the family. The hot tub is the place to be if you’re aching after a day filled with activities and is perfect for getting ready for a relaxing evening enjoying the luxurious interior of your holiday lodge. The pool is also a great place to visit first thing in the morning when you need to wake yourself up and enjoy some easy early morning exercise.

Canoeing / Kayaking
If you love water based activities but you would rather not get wet then we would definitely recommend trying the Canoeing and/or Kayaking. This is a great way to stay active and best of all, you can take it at your own pace, so whether you fancy paddling yourself along fast enough to get your arms aching or would just like to go slow and take in the views, the choice is yours and you will surely enjoy this great outdoor activity. Oh and don’t forget to keep a look out for the diverse wildlife that lives in and around the River Waveney.

Another fun activity that you can take at your own pace is cycling and thanks to our on site cycle hire, you won’t have to worry about bringing your own bikes. Explore the country lanes and cycle your way to some of the great attractions that can be found within the area or simply enjoy the sights, sounds and refreshing natural smells around the valley.

Although all of our activities are available for smaller children to enjoy, sometimes there’s nothing more appealing to them than a good old fashioned playground. Not that the lovely playground within the park is old, quite the opposite but we understand how sometimes all that’s needed to keep the kids happy are some of the most simple activities. It’s also a great way for them to let off some steam (if you’re thinking of bring the kids at all that is.)

There’s nothing better than a relaxing stroll through beautiful countryside and thanks to our wonderful location, you will be only a stones throw away from one of the best walks is the region. On the opposite side of the river is the Angles Way walk, which runs from great Yarmouth to Thetford. The ferry can get you to the other side quickly and safely and once you’re ashore, you can head east along the river until you reach the town of Beccles or head west, which will take you to Carlton Marshes nature reserve and Oulton Broad.
